Class Description:

These non-credit classes are designed to accommodate the adult learner and are considerate of the
adults' specific interests and needs. The instructor uses a textbook that includes themes and topics that
are of interest to adults. The classes are low-tech and are focused on face-to-face communication and
interaction. Furthermore, the pace and progress of learning are adjusted to adults who work and hence
have limited time available for studying; or have been away from any formal classroom learning and have
to develop a learning routine. These classes are not suitable for teenagers or younger children.

  • Classes are held once a week for 2 hours (120 minutes).
  • A minimum of 6 students is necessary to hold a class.
  • Payment has to be received one week before class. Full payment is required to guarantee
    enrollment.
  • No refunds or discounts for late enrollment, early withdrawal, or missed classes. Full refund for
    any cancelled class.

Berliner Platz 2: German for Beginners (green book)
In class students work on a crime story  "Der Auftrag". Copies are
handed out in class.
Course Description:
This course will expand on the previously gained knowledge and will
introduce students to guided reading of short texts. Guided discussions
of every day topics at the beginning of each class aim to explore a wider
range and day-to-day  vocabulary.
Prerequisites:
Completion of Ger 1-4 of the A1 Beginner level and Ger 1-A2 or solid
prior knowledge of elementary grammar and vocabulary.
After 10 weeks you can
  • provide a detailed description of people
  • express your likes and dislikes (opinion)
  • discuss fashion , vacation, and weather
  • plan a route and purchase tickets
  • use adjectives in front of nouns
  • use the impersonal pronoun 'es'  (es regnet, es gibt....)

basic grammatical components. Emphasis is placed on communicative
interaction to instill self-confidence in talking.
After 10 weeks you can
  • introduce and talk a little about yourself but also ask others for
    some of their information
  • identify and say countries in German
  • order food and drinks and understand how much you have to pay
    in Euro (numbers)
  • say the time in German (informally)
  • know about some seasonal celebrations and culinary
    delicatessen and specialties  in German-speaking countries
